Astrology: the sky you were born under

Astrology is the reading of the sky at the minute you were born: where the planets stood, in which signs and houses, and at what angles to each other. Astrology does not dictate your fate, it describes the mold. Here Selena reads the sky honestly, starting with the first thing everyone knows: your sign.

Astrology: the sky you were born under

Your Sun sign is only the beginning

Your zodiac sign says where the Sun stood the day you were born, and that already tells a lot. But the sky of that moment was wider: the Moon, the ascendant and the planets draw the full portrait. The sign is the first stroke, not the last word.

Where to start

Three points are enough for a first portrait: the Sun, the Moon and the ascendant. The Sun is read off the date alone, and that is your sign. The Moon also wants a rough time of day and says what you feel when nobody is watching. The ascendant wants an exact time and a city, because it changes sign roughly every two hours: it is the door people see you walk in through.

Then come the planets and the houses, and there the natal chart does the work: it places the bodies of the solar system in the twelve signs and the twelve houses, then measures the angles between them. None of that is guessed. It is ephemerides, degrees and a birth time.

What astrology does not do

It does not predict the date you will meet someone, the size of your salary or the day you will die. This is not medicine, law or financial advice, and nothing here replaces a professional. What it can do is name a temperament and its tensions with an accuracy that often surprises, and then leave the decision to you.

Start with your sign, the stroke everyone recognizes.
