Career and Money Tarot Spread

Six cards about your work and your money: where you stand now, what pulls you up, what holds you in place, and where it's all turning.

When to use it

Reach for it when you're thinking of changing jobs or starting something of your own, when things have stalled and your income won't move, when you've got a choice in hand and need to see where to put your energy.

Pull the cards

Hold your question about this spread in mind. The cards are already dealt face down in their positions, so flip each one yourself, upright or reversed as it falls, and read it together with its place. The full reading in my voice happens in the Mirror. Here you listen to the cards on your own.

The positions

123456
The numbers are the positions from the list below, in reading order.

1. You in this work right now - Where you actually stand at work, underneath the job title and the reports: what you bring each day, how you feel about what you do, and how much of the real you is in it.

2. What helps you - Your footing in the work: a skill, your grip, the right people, or a good name. Wands often turn up here with their spark, the thing worth leaning on that it would be a shame to run at half power.

3. What gets in the way - Where your energy leaks out: tiredness, fear of taking the step, other people's expectations, or the habit of pulling the load on autopilot. The thing you keep tripping over and would do well to loosen.

4. Money and income - How things stand with money and comfort: coming in steadily, slipping through your fingers, or building toward growth. This is where Pentacles come in, the suit of earning and of solid ground underfoot.

5. Advice - What the deck suggests you do with your own hands: where to press, where to wait it out, what to talk about plainly, and where to aim your strength so things start to move.

6. Where it's heading - Where the work and the income are turning if you leave everything as it runs now. It's a lean and a likelihood, and turning it is still in your hands.

How to read it

Start with the first card, you in the work, the center of the spread. From there read in pairs: help and hindrance like the two pans of a scale, money on a line of its own. Look at advice and outcome last, once you've gathered the whole picture. Advice is your lever, and the outcome is where things tip if the current course holds.

The positions turn easily toward your own question: for a job change, read "helps-hinders" as the case for and against leaving. For a business of your own, read them as growth and risk. For a specific offer, as whether it's worth taking on.

What to remember

The cards show how the forces are laid out and which way the work leans. They don't conjure wealth or sign the offer for you. Where to steer your career and your money is yours to decide and yours to do.

FAQ

How do you do a career tarot spread?

Settle yourself, ask one clear question about your work - stay, leave, or grow - and draw six cards by position: you in the work, what helps, what hinders, money, advice, and where it's heading. Read them as one connected story.

Which tarot cards mean money?

Above all the suit of Pentacles, the suit of earning and solid ground. The Ace of Pentacles hints at new income, the Ten at comfort and a strong safety net, the Emperor at grip and knowing how to hold onto what's yours. You read them alongside their neighbors.

Should I change jobs, will a tarot spread tell me?

The spread won't hand you an order to run or to stay put. It lays out what keeps you in place, what pulls you to leave, how the money looks either way, and where it all leans. The choice is then yours, made with the cards face up.

Is this an exact prediction about my career and income?

No, the deck gives no guarantees. It shows the lean of the work and how the forces sit: where your footing is, where the leak is, which way income tilts on the current course. It's a map of the terrain, and walking it and taking the steps is on you.
