Meaning of the Dagaz rune

Day and daybreak: the breakthrough, the waking, the turn toward light. Dagaz is that moment when the dark gives way and everything is suddenly seen clearly. The morning you were waiting for has arrived. Sight comes back first, before the circumstances do, and the rest follows on from there.

The shadow side

Dagaz is symmetrical, so turning it leaves the same sign and there is no reversed position. Every force still has its dark edge. This rune does not reverse, dawn looks the same from any side. In a difficult surrounding its shadow is fear of the change itself: the light came up and your eyes are squeezed shut against seeing anything new. The turn has already happened, and it is waiting on you to look at it.
